I am Josh, the man behind ‘The Hipster Engineer’, and I want to cultivate success amongst newcomers and old-timers in the field of engineering.
I am a licensed professional engineer by day, but by night I am a husband to my cute wife, Jaime, and a father to a son and two pups. It didn’t always start out like this. I grew up in Colorado, but I have since lived and worked in California and Utah. Working in various states as a professional engineer has helped me to understand how to best approach the process involved in the job search, licensure exams and career growth. I don’t want to keep all of the secrets to success to myself, instead I would rather share my experience with others so that they can succeed.
For a more extensive background, check out my first post ‘The Idea Behind ‘The Hipster Engineer’.
Wherever you are at with your career, I can help because I have experienced it all, including:
- Landing internships at engineering firms while in school
- Nailing interviews that were not supposed to be interviews
- Helping to open a new branch office in a new city
- Relocating to a new city/state
- Passing the FE Exam
- Passing the PE Exam
- Passing the CA Surveying + Seismic Exam
- Passing the SE Exam
- Career growth opportunities and increased responsibilities
- Working on noteworthy building projects
I have always been passionate about career growth and life betterment. I read, listen and watch any content that I can in order to improve. My goal is to take my experiences and the principles that I have learned to help you become a better engineer. This in essence is what the ‘Secrets for the modern engineer’ are that I have to offer.
Keep on keepin’ on.
Life’s a garden… Dig it!
