Engineering Career Fair Tips

What do you need to do to succeed at the engineering career fair so that you can land an internship or job? Here are a few tips to rock the career fair, but for the complete list CLICK HERE.

(1) VOLUNTEER AT THE EVENT

If it is through school or elsewhere, reach out to those in charge. Help those who you are interested in talking to. Create opportunities to get “face time”.

(2) YOUR “ELEVATOR PITCH”

Practice telling your story and what differentiates you from others in 30-60 seconds. Practice with your family, friends, classmates, or even in the mirror!

(3) RESEARCH BEFOREHAND

It goes a long way to point out a project or cultural aspect from the company you chat with. It shows your interest and it only takes a few minutes to skim their website.

(4) DRESS TO IMPRESS

Make an impression by ditching the jeans and t-shirt and wear something business casual. You can step it a notch as well but you don’t need to wear a suit/tie or dress.

(5) BRING A SOLID RESUME

Stand out and leave a lasting impression with the recruiter even after you leave. Don’t bring a boring drab resume, and make sure that you are using solid action verbs.
